HSBC has launched WorldTrader in Qatar, a new digital wealth trading platform designed to give customers streamlined access to international investment opportunities from a single account.
What WorldTrader Offers
Available through HSBC Online Banking, WorldTrader allows eligible HSBC Premier customers in Qatar to trade across 25 markets and 77 exchanges, covering roughly 80% of global stock market capitalization. Through one investment account, customers can access equities, ETFs, mutual funds, and bonds spanning the United States, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and other regions.
Customers can transfer funds from their HSBC Qatar account into a WorldTrader funding account within hours, and the platform supports trading in major currencies including the US dollar, euro, pound sterling, and Hong Kong dollar, alongside local currency accounts. WorldTrader also provides real-time market data, financial news, and analysis, with a unified dashboard for tracking portfolios, performance, and cash balances.
HSBC's Wider Wealth Push in Qatar
Abdul Hakeem Mostafawi, CEO of HSBC Bank Middle East in Qatar, said the launch builds on the bank's recent Wealth Center opening in the country and reflects its push to bring HSBC's global capabilities closer to local customers as their wealth ambitions evolve.
Omar Al Ansari, Head of International Wealth & Premier Banking for HSBC in Qatar, said the platform was built around what today's investors prioritize: broad market access, ease of use, timely insights, and centralized portfolio management. He added that the launch strengthens HSBC's ability to support customers building more diversified, internationally connected portfolios.
The Technology Behind It
WorldTrader is powered by Interactive Brokers, a global electronic brokerage firm that provides automated trade execution and custody services across international markets through a unified platform.
The launch adds to a string of HSBC investments in its Qatar wealth business this year, as the bank looks to deepen its presence among the country's increasingly internationally-minded investor base.
